Here are July 2012's winners of our Baby of the Month Competition. So congratulations to our sweet, smiling little Baby of the Month for July - Ayla from Cobourg, Ontario, Canada

Mummy Jessica told us...

Ayla

Ayla really enjoys eating solid foods and will eat anything! I have yet to find a food that she wont eat.

Her favorite foods are mashed avocado, chunks of banana and cheese. She is a very active baby, but at the same time she is very calm and easy going, you can take her anywhere and do pretty much anything without a fuss from her.

It seems as though not a minute goes by that she's not trying to tell a story to who ever is around her. Ayla is just such a joy to have, and we are looking forward to watching her grow up. Thank you, Jessica, for sending in this lovely picture of Ayla - she's a little sweetie :)

Thank you, too, to everyone else who entered last month!

Here are some more of our favourite pictures sent in during June 2012... Addison

Addison is a super easy baby and enjoys pretty much all types of food. So far her favorite meal is sweet potatoes and she really dislikes avocados! We've been trying to introduce finger foods, but so far she enjoys her homemade purees!

Addison laughs & talks all the time and pretty much just goes with the flow! She loves to hear herself talk and I can't wait until she actually says something we understand! Although our little one is very nosy, she still won't roll over. She sits up well on her own and the doctor said to not be surprised if she decides to crawl before she rolls at this point.

AlexaShe loves her finger foods, biscuits in particular, and creating mess all the time. As she learns to crawl, she doesn't want to stay at her crib anymore, but to crawl all over the house even when she is eating. She loves banana cereal instead of a plain cereal.

There are times that she wants milk instead of eating. Because she is a breastfed Baby, she loves more breastmilk than the formula milk which we are giving her more often, especially when we are not in the house.

Annelise

Lise on her 1/2 birthday!

Annelise is my granddaughter. She is 6 months old and just getting started on food.

She loves sweet potato and just today had her first pear! It was a hit. Avocado was definitely not her cup of tea! Oh wait - she is definitely too little to have a cup of tea. My daughter, her mom, never would eat store-bought baby food and must remember her aversion because she is committed to making her daughter's baby food.

Brayley

We have just started feeding Brayley solids and so far she has tried brown rice cereal (Loves it MUCH more than the box cereal we first fed her), sweet potatoes, green beans, peaches and bananas.

So far, it seems like her favorite has been peaches, but we are looking forward to introducing more flavors to her in the coming months.

FionaMy baby girl is an excellent eater but that's because she only gets homemade baby food, a lot of which come from recipes on this site.

Her newest favourite is coconut carrots from a recent issue. Although she'll eat most anything you give her, she is asserting her desire to feed herself these days!

Isaac

Isaac loves food! He loves pureed apples and yams together. He did not like cantaloupe and I agreed with him after I tried it. He is also not to fond of chunky foods just yet.

I am looking forward to introducing chicken and such.

Jace

Here is my chunky monkey, Jace! He is the happiest, healthiest little guy you will ever meet! He loves squash and carrots! This week we are going to introduce green beans and sweet peas. He's not to keen on sweet potatoes.

Everything that i make is homemade(salts and sugars free) with the help of your website!!

JackPulling up for the first time!

Jack loves homemade baby food. I didn't want to feed him anything I wouldn't eat, and since I refused store-bought baby food even when I was a baby, I decided to make all of his. He loves flavour and gets bored easily with bland food. So far though, he's loved everything we've given him except...bananas! I think he hates the texture. He even loves fish and curry sauce, but bananas make him make the most priceless disgusted face.

JaimeJaime is a good eater, although definitely can see she has sweet tooth like her mom. As a new mom I struggle to come up with new ideas for home made recipes, so this website is a life saver. As a working mom I also struggle to plan ahead and most of the time grab a purity jar from the cupboard as a quick solution. But as she is getting older, I have to start trying out more recipes.

She is extremely active and loud, loves people and just smiles at everyone she meets. I am struggling to get her to eat any protein and I know that is very important. She just spits it out, kind of worried that she will get iron deficiency...

JonahAlfalfa :)

Jonah is a hungry little man! After enjoying a full feeding from Mama he is ready to chow down on just about anything offered to him. He's tried apples, pears, peaches, sweet potatoes, bananas, and avocado. The silly faces he made with the avocado were hilarious--not his favorite but we will try again in a little while to see if he will come around. He's such a sweet boy who loves to giggle at his golden retriever, Sophie! Jonah loves the recipes from this site and Mama loves being able to provide tasty, organic meals for her little guy.

Kale

Kale has his 1st birthday next week and has been on solids since 4 months. He's been the easiest eater ever and is excited about everything he puts in his mouth. His favourite at the moment is mashed eggs with cream cheese.

He is constantly on the go - usually always with a piece of food in one hand and his water cup in the other. Very funny.

KubobonkeThe little princess - loves to play!

She absolutely loves cooked carrots, mashed. She also loves mashed pears and bananas. She still has trouble eating anything with meat, she merely just sucks it until the delicious taste is gone and then she will throw it aside.

Otherwise she is full of life, a very happy and healthy baby girl. We used to give her baby foods bought form the shops but we soon realised that she was more reluctant to eat those than she was with homemade foods. She enjoys eating with her dad and often just grabs whatever is on his plate and eats it instead of her own food, I guess she loves homemade foods.

My little angel does however hate the taste of butternut.

Manya

She likes all types of baby food and specially Khichdi and vegetable dalia. She is very naughty and always wants to play around keeping mom busy all day long!

She is not so fussy about eating although always stands with me in the kitchen for trying something new.

MiraTypical morning with Mira

Mira began eating solids at 5 months, since she showed a high level of interest in adult food and the bottle was no longer satisfactory. She loves her baby food such as avocados, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes, and many more. She hated green beans but with all honesty how many of us would like to eat boiled and pureed green beans - I am assuming not many.

Mira brightens up our days and we look forward to every new move or baby babble or discovery she makes. She wakes us up every morning with her baby babbles and laughter. Mira is a very happy, easy going, and a very friendly baby. She takes well to strangers and is constantly smiling or laughing. We just hope that her future sibling will be the same. She is the light in our lives, making our days better and we are thankful for this great blessing.

RijksRijks is loving his homemade din-din! Especially the Sweet Potatoes and Tofu. He is mommy's little breastfed vegan. Not too big of a Lentil fan but we will keep trying. We have family dinner every night, which we all look forward too.

He loves it when loud motorcycles drive by and when a cool breeze blows on his precious face. He's just a music loving, laid back, Easy Rider!

RyanThanks Daddy

We have yet to find a food that Ryan does not like ,He is becoming more independent and keen to feed himself - messy but fun!

Thanks for all your finger food ideas.

We enjoy making Ryan food and getting him to try new things - his Daddy is very helpful in making lots of recipes - the picture above is Ryan in the bath after painting his Daddy a card to say thank you for all his help and Happy Fathers Day!

As you can see Ryan loves mess and we love him so much!

SilasBouncing Blue Eyed Sweetheart!

Our energetic baby Silas has been eating his momma's homemade, all organic food since he was 4 months old. Milk never seemed to be enough for his growing tummy! His favorite food, from day one, has been sweet potatoes. He also loves bananas with organic apple juice. He's tried lots of fun foods like papaya, pears, avocado, corn, and peas. We can't wait for him to get a few more teeth so he can try even more delicious recipes!

StefaniaShe is loving food, she eats second stage Gerber at day care and wants more and more, she didn't like avocado :( mommy sad I love it! I want to introduce her to meats, we shall see how it goes.

She knows when is feed time as soon as she is in the high chair she starts pounding on the table requesting the food :)

SydnieSydnie enjoying some arrowroot cookies for the first time!

Sydnie loves all food. I have yet to come across something she does not like, she's a great little eater...loves all her fresh veggies and fruits!

TaylorFirst cake making experience and LOVED IT

Taylor loves her food. She is especially great with her vegetables often seen walking with a full carrot just munching on it little by little. Also a lover of oranges, apples and strawberries.

WintaShe likes eating mushed avocado and mango.

She doesn't like any cereal which is sweet, because she is already sweet. She doesn't need more sweet, I guess.

XavierMy Little Love Bug!

Our little man is enjoying solid foods very much. I am loving making all kinds of different tastes and textures for him to try. He now wants to be a big boy and finger feed himself and we let him do so. What a mess but I LOVE it! He started out liking more of the sweet fruit variety. But now, he seems to not like the sweet foods unless we mix it with something else. For breakfast, he loves chunks of apples mixed with oatmeal cereal. He absolutely loves avocados. Even when he's sick and won't eat much else, he will eat those! He also likes pasta with different veggies with a little bit of tomato to give it flavor. So far, we have not given him much meat but I am now looking to make more meat recipes and your website is more than helpful! He does not like green veggies on their own so we usually mix those with other things he likes such as potatoes or fruits.

Even after he has had his dinner and is full, he loves to pick off of mommy and daddy's plates. I am originally from Ethiopia so, I have been slowly introducing Ethiopian food to him, the different spices and flavors he seems to like it a lot. I always look forward to having him try new things and watch his facial expression. My little smiley love bug!
